How Much Is Your Office Printing Costing?

Have you ever considered how much it costs to print and mail a letter from your office?  From the time you press "PRINT", until your letter is posted, you probably incur most of the following expenses:-

  • Raw printer cost amortised over the life of a printer, say $1,000 over 100,000 pages

  • Printer - toner, drum, fuser, waste toner disposal, storage and retrieval of replacement consumables, time exchanging and servicing printer

  • Paper - letterhead, follow-on, storage, retrieval, replacements, restocking

  • Envelope - storage, retrieval, replacements, restocking

  • Postage - stamps, storage, accounting for usage, restocking

  • Assembly time - get up, retrieve document, verify, fold, put into envelope, seal, affix stamp, put in mailing accumulator, return to workstation

  • Transport - all accumulated postal items to Postal Service somehow

It's easy to see the real cost is heading above $2, and it is certain there are more expenses like power, office furniture and even air-conditioning.  Most of these costs are "hidden" within people's salaries, or general office expenses, but they are all very real.  Imagine the above happening in your company, hundreds of times a day.

Clearly, there has to be a better way . . . . . stay tuned.

Remember that with BEPS 5, you need an Activation Code to run the software, so get one while you are at the site.  You need a new Activation Code for each new version of the software.

Q & A

Q.  As BEPS has a dongle, how can we run it under VMWare?

A.  To run BEPS under VMWare, you need some USB Virtualisation software, like USB@nywhere.  This type of solution allows the BEPS security key to communicate with VMWare via IP.

Q.  Does Barr provide full VMWare support?

A.  No, Barr are not VM experts.  However, several customers are successfully running BEPS under VM.  At the present time there are no known issues associated with running BEPS and VMWare.

Q.  Is Emtex compatible with VIPP?

A.  Yes, Emtex can process Xerox VIPP.  To use VIPP with VIP requires a VIPP licence on the VIP server.  This licence must be obtained directly from Xerox.
